Vyatta Replaces Cisco 7200 at Iparadigms

Open-Source Router/Firewall Appliance Helps Eliminate Plagiarism.

San Mateo, Calif. (PRWeb) April 10, 2007 -- Vyatta today announced that iParadigms has deployed a Vyatta-based appliance to provide connectivity to the companys key server infrastructure. The appliance connects to iParadigms T3 circuit and replaced a Cisco 7200-series router in front of the companys key Internet servers.

iParadigms provides services that help detect and stop plagiarism and protect intellectual property. Marketed through its Turnitin.com and iThenticate.com web sites, the company provides a host of educational resources about the issue of plagiarism and provides a set of tools to help educators and the corporate sector deal with the issue of intellectual property misappropriation. Users can submit documents to the web site and iParadigms technology compares the document with billions of Internet pages, millions of student papers previously submitted to the site, and commercial databases of journals and articles. Textual matches between documents are highlighted and allow the user to take appropriate action.

At one point, we tried deploying used equipment into our network, but we found that the proprietary vendors just wouldnt support us," said Emmanuel Briand, CIO at iParadigms. Given the business-critical nature of our network, we just couldnt take the risk of being on our own when something went wrong. With Vyatta, we dont have to choose between price, performance, new equipment, or excellent service and support; we have it all. I hope to convert my network to 100 percent Vyatta over the coming year."

Vyatta software delivers the features, performance, and reliability of an enterprise-class router, firewall, and VPN and allows users to regain control over their network infrastructure by virtue of Vyattas open architecture and flexible subscription model. Running on standard x86 hardware, or preinstalled on a Dell PowerEdge 860 from Vyatta, the software provides users a low-cost alternative to proprietary networking products. Subscriptions start at $497, or $1,797 when preinstalled on PowerEdge hardware.

Vyatta is quickly proving its remarkable scalability, from edge routers to data centers," said Dave Roberts, VP of Strategy and Marketing at Vyatta. Enabling customers to scale their network solutions with radically better economics is a key benefit we provide. With Vyattas commercially-supported offering, customers can reconcile the competing demands of price sensitivity and vendor support."
