Experience the World of Ancient Mayan Sorcery in The Zama Codex

This release announces publication and availability of an original novel entitled, The Zama Codex, a unique story combining historical fiction, alternative reality and mystery thriller.

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWeb) May 1, 2007 -- Stephen Chensue announces publication of The Zama Codex in conjunction with Lulu Enterprises (www.lulu.com), the world's fastest-growing provider of print-on-demand books.

The Zama Codex, structured as alternating chapters, tells parallel stories, one set during the fall of the Mayan classic age (circa 800 A.D) and the other at a present era archaeological excavation. One story brings the ancient culture of the Maya to life through the experiences of Zama, a scribe and noble living in a highland city-state. Engaged by a master sorcerer to write a secret codex, Zama takes the reader through a world of blood sacrifice, internecine wars, mystical power and cosmic love. A thousand years later Zama's codex is uncovered at a newly discovered Mayan ruin in the Guatemalan highlands by an archaeological expedition headed by Dr. Ricardo Calderon. Before it can be translated, the codex is stolen by a ruthless cult. Under the scrutiny of a Guatemalan detective and with a traitor in their midst, Calderon's team must recover the codex before its power is exploited by their enemies.

The Zama Codex was inspired by the author's thematic interest in the convergence of the rational and the mystical. The book is based upon historical research and the author's personal study of shamanic practices in Central America. He came to Lulu because he wanted to be in control of the publishing process and found Lulu's print-on-demand tools to be efficient and time-saving means to publish.
