Kozak the Magician honored as International Comedy Magician of the Year at Hard Rock Hotel gala in Las Vegas

(PRWEB) April 17, 2007 -- Kozak the Magician considered by many to be one of the best sleight-of-hand, comic magician's in the world added another notch to his belt as he received the 2007 Merlin Award as the International Comedy Magician of the Year from Tony Hassini from the IMS. The Merlin honor was long overdue.

The International Magicians Society (IMS) is the world's largest magic society. Also on hand for the festivities at the Hard Rock hotel was magician extroardinairre Criss Angel, who is a huge fan of Kozak. Adding to the glitz and glamour of the night were Super model Cindy Margolis and the PCD of Comedy aka "The Pussycat Dolls of Comedy". Kozak and his partner Michael Bloom, himself one of the top tv producers in the world founded the PCD of Comedy, an all female comedy troupe who will open their own show in Las Vegas this summer. Margolis, recently named as number one on Playboy Magazines Hot 100 list, will also serve as the opening celebrity guest host for the PCD of Comedy. But, with all the hoopla and partying going on, the night definitely belonged to Paul Kozak.

Kozak acts as host and emcee for his own show in Las Vegas, "The World's Greatest Magic Show", which has won a slew of awards over the years and is considered by many to be one of the top attractions in Las Vegas. The WGMS is housed at the Greek Isle Casino. Kozak also accepted a second Merlin award on behalf of the WGMS as "International Magic Show of the Year". The highlight of any magician's career is to win the coveted Merlin Award and for Kozak it is an honor and tradition that he is very proud to be part of. Previous winners have included Houdini and Penn and Teller.

In the profession of magic, the Merlin statuette is the equivalent of the Oscar for film, the Emmy for television, and the Tony for theater. It is presented only to those entertainers who have achieved the highest level in their craft. The voting members begin with approximately one hundred names and narrow the list down to a select few. The criteria considered for a winner include talent, showmanship, originality, skills, and above all, the rare ability to entertain under any conditions. Kozak the Magician meets every qualification and the standing room only crowd at Body English nightclub agreed, as well. The crowd also included many of Vegas' top magicians like The Amazing Johnathan and Jeff McBride (himself a former Merlin award winner).

"They're all here because of Paul," added Cindy Margolis. "He is not only an amazing magician, but an amazing man." The sentiment was echoed by Criss Angel. "I'm here tonight because of Paul, he's not only a great magician but a great friend, as well."
