Bay Area's Peppino D'Agostino Named "Acoustic Guitarist of the Year"

Italian native and Benicia, CA resident Peppino D'Agostino was named "Acoustic Guitarist of the Year in a reader's poll by Guitar Player magazine.

Benicia, CA (PRWEB) April 19, 2007 -- Italian native and Benicia, CA, resident Peppino D'Agostino, who rose from working a vegetable truck in San Francisco to becoming one of the world's premier guitarists, was named "Acoustic Guitarist of the Year," in a reader poll by Guitar Player magazine.

Guitar Player, a national publication based in San Bruno, CA, features D'Agostino and others including country's Brad Paisley and blues musician Buddy Guy in the May issue.

"I'm flattered. I had no idea I was up for an award," D'Agostino said from his Benicia home. "It's certainly an honor to be included among the top musicians in America."

Recently back from a month-long tour of Italy, D'Agostino said he walked into The Guitar Center in Concord to buy three copies of magazine.

"The man behind the counter asked why I needed three copies, so I had to show him my picture," said "D'Agostino. "He said, 'Take them.'"
