TV World Predicts Flat Screen TV Sales to Break the 4 Million Barrier The flat screen TV specialist, TV World, is predicting that sales of the ultra-slim form of TV will exceed 4 million during 2007. (PRWEB) April 19, 2007 -- TV World (http://www.tvworld.co.uk) believe that demand for High Definition (HD) Ready flat screen TVs will see over 4 million units sold in the UK this year.
A drop in the price of flat screen TVs is the biggest factor behind the predicted sales figures.
In the last two years the most popular forms of HD Ready models, 32" LCD and 42" Plasma, have seen their price fall by over 200%.
In April 2005, 32" LCD TVs were available for £999, but by April 2006, the price had fallen to £699. Now, just 12 months later, TV World is offering 32" LCD TVs from £399.
42" Plasma screen prices have also fallen from £1499 to £699 in the same period.
National Sales Manager Andy Noblett explains: "Our prediction of 4 million units is in line with sales data for previous years from general industry sources. The fall in pricing is now likely to be less dramatic so right now is a very good time to buy."
TV World attribute these price drops to the competition between the top four panel manufacturers, Samsung, LG, CMO and Hitachi.
These manufacturers account for over 80% of all flat screen panels produced and the panels represent the bulk of the cost of a flat screen TV.
"Customers who previously thought that a flat screen TV was out of their budget are thinking again. Prices are now not much higher than conventional CRT screen TVs," Noblett explained.
Another factor behind the expected boom in the popularity of flat screens in 2007 is the growth of HD Ready games consoles and DVD players.
Many people who own either a next generation games console or the latest HD DVD player will need to have a TV that makes the most of games and movies presented in the higher quality format.
"When HD Ready was first introduced, people asked what all the fuss was about. But when customers come into our showroom, they can now physically see vast improvement a High Definition picture gives you," Noblett added.
The slim design and flexibility of flat screen TVs mean that anybody who switches from older, bulkier models will find that they will save a great deal of room space.
"Having a flat screen TV in your living room completely changes the dimension of the room, the flexibility to stand it on a table or wall mount has great advantages and many people are looking to flat screen TVs for just this reason," Noblett explained.
