Partnering Up and Picking The Best MusicMatters Magazine to judge music video entries for San Diego Film Festival. (PRWEB) April 21, 2007 -- To ensure that the San Diego Film Festival's music video category is as hip and happening as the festival itself, SDFF has invited local music magazine, MusicMatters, to help in this year's selection process.
"MusicMatters is the ideal partner, as they are the pulse of what's hot in the music industry," says SDFF Director Robin Laatz-Kozak. " Their combined experience in music and film makes them a natural choice."
This is the second year that the festival has held the music and film category, called "Film Rocks" which Laatz-Kozak describes as a celebration of "the evolving and symbiotic relationship" of the two art forms. In its first year, the category drew over 150 entries from throughout the country, including entries from bands such as Pearl Jam, Switchfoot, Jane Lui and Ryan Ferguson.
"I suspect that the level of talent at this year's festival is going to make our job very difficult," says MusicMatters Editor Jen Hilbert. "We're extremely honored to be a part of such an important event in San Diego."
Since its inception in 2001, SDFF has become one of the most prestigious film festivals in the country with over 15,000 people attending and over 1,200 submissions every year. The festival has received honors from Film Threat, Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide and SignOnSanDiego. The festival has even won a Bulldog Award from Excellence in Media Relations and Publicity and has been featured in such national media outlets as Variety, GQ, Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood.
SDFF is an annual event produced by the nonprofit San Diego Film Foundation. This year's event will be held Sept. 27 through 30 in the Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego's premier dining, shopping and entertainment district. The competitive four-day event will showcase more than 100 American and international features, documentaries, short films and music videos.
More than just movies, SDFF provides attendees with a unique opportunity to directly interact with film professionals through Q &A sessions, workshops and a screenwriting contest and conference in partnership with the American Screenwriter's Association. Always the place to see and be seen, the Festival hosts San Diego's most glamorous parties - an Opening Night Premiere Gala, the Industry Party, the exclusive Actor's Ball and Award Ceremony, and a closing night Wrap Party.
