Sydney, NSW (PRWEB) April 26, 2007 -- World Nomads, the on-line travel services provider, has announced a series of five Travel Scholarships, to be awarded annually to students talented in the arenas of journalism; photography; film and media; international development; and language.

Each scholarship is designed to create a dynamic experiential learning opportunity for the successful candidate, and includes mentoring and skills development and facilitates partnerships to publish, broadcast or exhibit a student's work.

The first scholarship announced is for Travel Photography (http://journals.worldnomads.com/scholarships/post/4308.aspx). The successful student will accompany award-winning photographer, Mark Rogers on assignment to document Yolngu culture at the Garma Festival in Arnhem Land, held from August 3 to 7, 2007.

The festival is held on Aboriginal land and organised by the Yothu Yindi Foundation. It is one of Australia's premier Indigenous cultural exchange events, attracting more than 20 clan groups from throughout Arnhem Land, around 1400 Indigenous Australians and more than1,000 non-Indigenous Australians and overseas visitors.

World Nomads (http://www.worldnomads.com) will provide flights for the student from anywhere in the world, as well as tented accommodation and food and services. The scholarship will include a day's tuition with Mark Rogers and the opportunity for the student to present their work to a global audience through exhibitions and publication on-line and off.

To be eligible, students must be enrolled at a recognised educational institution, anywhere in the world, and are required to submit a portfolio of five captioned portraits, which will be assessed by a panel of judges. Minimum age is 18.

Further scholarships will be announced in coming weeks. For further information, visit the World Nomads (http://journals.worldnomads.com/scholarships/post/4308.aspx) website.
