Rockville, MD (PRWEB) May 2, 2007

CPC won Television Broadcast magazine's "Top Innovation" Award and Videography magazine's "Vidy" Award at NAB 2007, the world's largest video convention.

The Best of Show Awards are given in recognition of outstanding achievement in the advancement of the art and science of video technology. "To receive an award, a technology is evaluated by our panel of editors and industry experts," says NewBay Media Video Group Vice President/Group Publishing Director Doug Krainman. "The winning technologies reflect innovation and engineering excellence."

HD (High Definition) Closed Caption Software Encoder Wins Prize
CPC won for its Windows-based CaptionMaker CPC-700HD, the first and only closed caption format/timing and encoding software for high definition on the market. The software encoder streamlines workflow, and saves money by replacing hardware encoders that cost between $7,000 and $10,000.

CPC uses the same SD and HD caption insertion technology in its Macintosh captioning software, known as MacCaption-HD.

CPC Joins Sony, JVC, Apple and Adobe as Dual Winners
Only 8 out of 1,600 exhibitors won both the "Top Innovation Award" and the "Vidy" award at the 2007 NAB Convention.

Dr. Dilip K. Som, President and CTO of CPC stated, "The CPC-700HD is the latest in an unbroken string of CPC captioning software firsts dating back to the 1986 NAB convention, when CPC released the first simultaneous closed captioning/teleprompting software to run on a PC. We are honored to receive the awards, and humbled to join the ranks of Sony, JVC, Apple and others that also received two awards."

How HD Software Caption Encoding Works
The CPC-700HD is a complete HD captioning system on a CD. It evolved from CPC's patented CPC-700NLE software. The CPC-700HD lets users position, time code and encode captions on MPEG2 HD video. After adding captions to HD MPEG2 video, users can store the video on a video data server, an HD tape, or transmit the video to a different location.

Running on NLEs such as Avid, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Premiere, the CPC-700HD software takes an HD MPEG2 file and adds caption data to the data packet area. This data is then mapped into captions by the decoder built into HD television sets.

CPC - The Caption Software Leader Since 1986
The CPC-700HD is the latest addition to CPC's industry leading Windows and Macintosh closed captioning software series. Since CPC released the first simultaneous closed captioning/teleprompting software in 1986, it has been the captioning industry leader. CPC also operates an award winning captioning service, and develops subtitling and teleprompting software.
