Sixth Annual Paw Jam to be held in Wilmington, NC on June 9th

Benefit concert attracts animal lovers and raises funds for local shelters and rescue groups.

Wilmington, NC (PRWEB) April 29, 2007 -- On June 9th the 6th annual Paw Jam, a benefit concert that attracts thousands of animal lovers and their pets, will take place in Wilmington, North Carolina. All profits from Paw Jam benefit participating local no-kill, non profit, shelters and animal rescue organizations, helping support the wonderful work of their dedicated employees and volunteers.

Paw Jam is held at the Battleship Park across the Cape Fear from downtown Wilmington. The gates open at 10 am, and the fun continues until 5 pm. Admission is $5 for humans, and well-behaved, pets on leashes get in free! Throughout the day four popular and entertaining local bands will play for the crowd. Vendors will be onsite selling merchandise, food, and drinks, and an educational tent will provide opportunities to learn about import animal issues such as heartworm prevention, spay and neuter, and overpopulation.

Paw Jam is presented by Pets Are Worth Saving of North Carolina (PAWS of NC). The shelters and rescue organizations that are participating in this year's event include Adopt-An-Angel, Carolina Boxer Rescue, Carolina Canines for Service, Cape Fear House Rabbit Society, Operation Top Cat, Pender County Humane Society, Boston Terrier Rescue of NC, and Carolina Animal Protection Society.

Another highlight of Paw Jam is the Parade of Rescues, where everyone present who has rescued their pet is invited to join a Parade around the park and be honored for saving an animal in need. It is heartwarming to see how many beloved companions were rescued from shelters and rescue organizations in our community.
