Personalised Number Plates Blog Causes a Stir

A minority of visitors have criticised a popular corporate blog as being "more like Monty Python" than a company communications tool.

Regtransfers.co.uk, the UK's leading personalised number plates (http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/main/personalised_number_plates.asp) supplier has seen minor controversy arise over its new online blog.

The blog was originally intended to be a news outlet where the company would announce offers, competitions and other items of interest to motorists and cherished plate enthusiasts. That is still the case... to an extent. However, the Regtransfers blogger has taken it upon himself to produce content that is not entirely what management had in mind when they originally agreed to the project.

Most readers have expressed approval for the offbeat blog, saying that its mixture of news and items of no real business relevance (such as employee profiles which blatantly poke fun at members of staff, and videos of employees playing musical instruments) is far more entertaining than most corporate blogs. Others, however, have said that the blogger should be subject to more rigid control by senior management as the impression given is too chaotic to be taken seriously.

"You are a private number plates company, a business," said one correspondent, "not Tiswas or Monty Python."

Fortunately, favourable reaction is greatly predominant, so for the time being the blog goes on as it is at http://www.regtransfers.co.uk/blog/.
