2000 Guineas Trends, Stats and Free Tips

Free tips and advice from JumpingJockey.com for the Stan James 2000 & 1000 Guineas Festival 2007

(PRWEB) May 5, 2007 -- Picking this year's 2000 guineas winner is much more difficult now that Teofilo has been withdrawn so the JumpingJockey.com team (http://www.jumpingjockey.com) have compiled some statistics and trends for previous races in recent years to help find the winner.

The most useful stats for previous winners are that the favourites rarely win, only one favourite in the last ten years has won and that was 'Georgous' George Washington. The second most useful stat is that 9 from 10 winners all won their previous race.

Almost all previous winners in the last ten years had odds of 10/1 or less. Based on current pricing and form, this leaves the following runners if the stats are to be believed;

US Ranger

Major Cadeaux

Diamond Tycoon

Another interesting fact about this race is that 40% of the last 10 years running of this race was won by an AP O'Brien trained horse with 30% trained by Sir Michael Stoute. These two trainers know how to win this race, if we stick to these, our list would be;

Adagio

Al Shemali

Duke Of Marmalade

Eagle Mountain

Yellowstone

With the exception of Adagio, all of the Stoute and O'Brien runners are very big prices. The only negative for Adagio being that he'll probably start favourite.

Below is a summary of the most likely contenders which takes into account the class, course, going, distance, and topspeed.

Adagio, has ticks in every box, has won on course, distance, going, class1 and both trainer and horse are prolific at Newmarket. He also has topspeed ratings amongst the top 3 for course, distance and going with all the other faster horses considered outsiders for the race. The only question is, will we see another favourite win in 2007?.

US Ranger, difficult to compare with other class 1 runners having done all its running in France, appears to prefer softer ground and the forecast good to firm may go against him. Top speed is amongst to slowest. Distance wont be an issue, has won every race entered in so far and is four from four, three at 8F and one at 7F.

Major Cadeaux, stepping up in trip, top speed is slower that than most, goes well on GF going and has won class 1 races. Negatives are distance to be proven and speed.

Diamond Tycoon, is proven in course, distance and going, questions marks remain having never raced against better than class 4 runners. Top speed is not the higest but this could be due to running against far less competetive company and winning easily.

The jumpingjockey.com pick is Adagio but for those looking for value, consider Eagle Mountain, the AP O'Brien runner, he can handle from heavy to GF going, has great top speed figures, including speeds on heavy at 8F which match and exceed the other best top speeds on fast ground and more impotantly, he lost by a head to Teofilo last September and that form has proven to be very solid indeed. They also have a top jockey booked for the ride, C Soumillon, no stranger to winning the worlds biggest races.

The JumpingJockey.com team will be publishing tips for the entire race card for this years festival, all tips will be free and available online the night before racing. To get free tips, simply visit http://www.jumpingjockey.com and click the free premium tips link on the homepage.
