World Poker Association to Have Major Presence at 2007 World Series of Poker

The World Poker Association will have booth at 2007 WSOP to promote professionalism in poker worldwide.

(PRWEB) May 10, 2007 -- The World Poker Association announced today that it will have a major presence at the 2007 World Series of Poker, and it's booth will be highly visible, just a few steps from the main entrance of the WSOP tournament area.

The World Poker Association, which promotes professionalism in poker on a worldwide basis and supports the highest standards of ethical conduct in tournament poker, will be at the World Series of Poker to make its mission, goals and objectives known to everyone in attendance.

Different from the Poker Players Alliance, which is a lobbying group for online poker interests, the World Poker Association is a nonprofit organization that brings together all segments of the poker community -- from professional players to amateurs, dealers, casinos, tournament directors, poker tours and even poker fans -- into an umbrella community with a goal of assuring the integrity of poker all over the world. Just as the PGA serves as the standard bearer for the world of golf, the World Poker Association was formed in November 2005 with a similar vision for poker. The WPA offers an opportunity for everyone concerned about poker's future to have a voice within an organization that is united in its efforts to further professionalism throughout the industry.

Each member of the WPA is pledged to uphold and support the highest standards of ethical conduct in tournament poker activities. All voting members have a voice in WPA policy by becoming active on WPA committees and they are encouraged to inquire about openings on committees such as:

- ethics and conduct,

- annual conference

- international

- dealer relations

- rules, and

- government relations.

- charities

As the only organization with a mission to promote professionalism in the world's favorite card game, the WPA is working for all of us to increase poker's legitimacy through integrity.

Prospective members of the World Poker Association can join by registering online at www.wpapoker.org, or by signing up at the WPA booth at the 2007 WSOP The cost is $50 annually to become a voting member, $25 annually to become a non-voting member, and $1,000 to become a founding member.
