Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) May 17, 2007 -- Gryphyn Works announced today its Gryphyn GSE Maintenance software was cited as the cover story of this month's edition of Ground Support Worldwide magazine in an article focusing on Horizon Air's success using Gryphyn technology to track and manage its GSE operations system wide. Ground Support Worldwide is recognized as the premier magazine for airline ground support equipment and services industry leaders across the globe.

The magazine's cover for the May 2007 edition features the headline "On the Horizon: Tracking GSE." The story on the inside is headlined "GSE maintenance goes paperless when Horizon Air teams with Gryphyn Works to solve GSE management and work flow challenges." The article focuses on the Horizon's decision making process to use a web based management system and disengage with the traditional paper methods or spreadsheets. It also explains how the application is now used to track ground support equipment and assets in Horizon's 47 cities.

The author of the article and magazine editor, Karen Reinhardt, met with Gryphyn Works to demo Gryphyn GSE Maintenance and witness first hand how Horizon uses the system. She was surprised to see mechanics and field technicians actively entering in work orders. Rather than filing old paper work orders and administrative assistants manually entering the same information into a spreadsheet, the mechanics log repair and maintenance notes into the web based application themselves, building a real knowledge library connecting mechanic notes to each serviced asset. This allows Horizon to know exactly how much money is spent repairing costly equipment and quickly recognize when assets become beyond economic repair.

The article also mentions how Gryphyn GSE Maintenance will keep Horizon in favor with federal SOX legislation. Ms Reinhardt explains the law's intent is "to protect investors by improving the accuracy and reliability of corporate disclosures made pursuant to the security laws." Compliance is mandatory but it doesn't specify how a business should store records; rather it defines which records are to be stored and for how long. Following publication of the article, Gryphyn Works Chief Technology Officer Paul Perry explained in a statement how the application works to help protect its users. "By having a non per-seat license pricing structure, everyone is encouraged to enter valuable information into the system. This creates accountability. The system can quickly produce filtered reports of documented repair work on each part, who completed the work and when it was accomplished."
