Toolbox Creative Co-founder Named AIGA Colorado Vice President -- Dawn Putney to Serve on 2007-2009 AIGA State Chapter Board

Dawn Putney, a founder and principal of Toolbox Creative, has been named the new vice president of the Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), the professional association for design.

Fort Collins, CO (PRWEB) May 17, 2007 -- Dawn Putney, a founder and principal of Toolbox Creative, has been named the new vice president of the Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA), the professional association for design.

In her role on the 2007-2009 board, Putney will be responsible for aiding the AIGA President on special projects, assisting with building employee and vendor relationships, assisting with AIGA National initiatives, helping to establish long-term Chapter goals, and presiding over the AIGA Colorado nominating committee.

Putney said, "Since AIGA has played such an important role in my development as a business owner, I figured it was time to start giving back. My goal is to strengthen the design community in Colorado by helping designers connect and share their love for design. I want to bring together new designers and veterans, share ideas and provide inspiration for striving to do outstanding work for clients."

AIGA Board members can either nominate themselves, or be nominated by a peer, and the AIGA nominating committee ultimately determines who is selected. Putney was nominated by Rob Barnes, owner of Vintage Pressworks in Denver. "Since so many AIGA directors express interest on their own initiative, it really meant a lot to me to have Rob call me personally and ask me to consider a board position," Putney said.

In his nomination of Putney, Barnes wrote, "Dawn is passionate about uniting and supporting the Colorado design community and sees a need for continued strong leadership. Dawn credits AIGA both nationally and locally for giving her the support she needed to build and sustain her own successful design business… She believes that it is an exciting time for AIGA Colorado with the upcoming National Conference and the city of Denver's continued support for local creative businesses. She hopes to capture some of that momentum and keep it moving north to Fort Collins. One of her goals as an AIGA Colorado board member is to involve more Fort Collins designers in AIGA Colorado."

Putney has been active in the AIGA for 11 years, serving as a panelist and judge for several AIGA events. This involvement, along with her commitment to AIGA goals, and her many professional achievements throughout her 25-year career, helped earn her the Vice Presidential role.
