SolarWinds Acquires Neon Software Second Acquisition in Q2 will Expand Product Breadth and Provide Key Technology to SolarWinds Product Line Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) May 21, 2007 -- SolarWinds, a leader in network management software, today announced it has acquired Neon Software, a privately held company based in Lafayette, CA. Neon Software's innovative technology adds discovery, mapping and visualization of network topology to SolarWinds' comprehensive range of network management solutions for businesses of all sizes. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Neon is another perfect fit for SolarWinds, our customers and our strategy," said Michael S. Bennett, president and chief executive officer at SolarWinds. "This acquisition provides us with the opportunity to add capabilities to our current market-leading products, as well as our collective customers benefit from our continued commitment to the low-cost, high value network management solutions we are known for."
As networks react to rapidly changing business requirements, they become more complex and dynamic in their design - and the ability to discover, document and visualize the network in real time becomes more difficult. Neon Software's technology provides real-time discovery, topology mapping, documentation and reporting of critical network systems - essential capabilities for: • Network Fault Monitoring - network topology information integrated into performance and fault monitoring enables correlation of events, providing a clearer picture of root-cause of network problems.
• Compliance - real-time discovery and documentation of network assets provides accurate reporting for internal or regulatory requirements. • Configuration Management - reliable network asset & topology information becomes a trusted data source for emerging CMDB initiatives. • Security - real-time identification of network topology changes, or new network components provides opportunity for security policy enforcement.
With the acquisition of Neon Software, SolarWinds will enhance its existing network management products to address these critical needs, as well as immediately expand its product line by adding the industry leading LANsurveyor, an affordable, easy-to-use network discovery and documentation application for network managers and network engineers. LANsurveyor version 10.0 was announced in a separate release today. To view the announcement go to www.solarwinds.com.
SolarWinds will market Neon Software's solutions through their direct web-based and inside sales, as well as their worldwide network of reseller and distributor partners. SolarWinds will retain Neon Software's office in Lafayette, California as a product development, support, and sales center.
