Mark Hobbins Appears on The Dr. Phil Show; Offers Resources for Violent Family Mark Hobbins, Senior Vice-President of the Aspen Education Group and frequent contributor to The Dr. Phil Show, offers a violent family outpatient and therapeutic interventions using resources from the Aspen Education Group and FamilyIQ.com. Rancho Santa Margarita, CA (PRWEB) May 19, 2007 -- As Senior Vice-President of Aspen Education Group, the nation's leading family of therapeutic programs for troubled children, Mark Hobbins is a frequent contributor to The Dr. Phil Show. Often asked to offer help to teens and families struggling with out-of-control behaviors, Hobbins recently stepped in to provide counseling, coaching and education for a family destined for disaster.
Brenda and Jim can't agree on how to discipline Brenda's three teenage sons: Koltin, 17 and twins Austin and Dustin, 15. Though the boys have punched holes in the walls, left home for days at a time and physically attacked Jim, Brenda says Jim's punishments are unfair. They are failing out of school and seem destined for prison if the family dynamic doesn't change.
At the conclusion of the show, Dr. Phil introduces Hobbins and Aspen Education Group. "We have placed kids in some of their residential homes before," Dr. Phil says. "I absolutely don't think that is necessary here, but I do think that some outpatient counsel through the Aspen Educational Group to help you guys begin to make a plan and put some things together would be very, very important. Can you help us with that?" he asks Hobbins.
"By all means," Hobbins says. "We can provide some outpatient counseling, some coaching for both the kids and the parents, and some online education material that will help you, through FamilyIQ.com, to strengthen some parenting skills and build your family more united," he responds.
In this situation, the entire family is a victim of poor choices and misguided intentions. By helping provide counseling to parents Jim and Brenda, as well as their four children (including four year-old son, Hayden), Hobbins believes the downward spiral of violent, abusive behavior can begin to reverse. Moving forward, he suggests the family enroll in online courses via FamilyIQ to build a more positive family dynamic.
Hobbins' involvement in the recent family intervention program was one of several appearances on the Dr. Phil Show, in which he has been asked to bear witness to his experience as father and a pioneer in the development of therapeutic programs for troubled youth. In addition to his role at Aspen, Hobbins serves on the Board of Directors for the Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare Industry Council and the National Association of Therapeutic Wilderness Camps. Mark also serves on the national colleague panel for the Council on Accreditation. He has written and lectured extensively on the challenges of maintaining a healthy family and raising teens in today's society. Hobbins and his wife Diane are the proud parents of seven children.
