NextWindow to Demonstrate 1900 Series Optical Touch Screen at SID Display Week 2007

The 1900 Series is the world's first optical touch screen designed for OEM applications and features a plug and play USB HID-compliant interface, or USB "digitizer" option.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) May 22, 2007 -- NextWindow, a leader in the design and manufacture of optical touch-screen overlays and touch components, will display its 1900 Series optical touch screen with new USB digitizer interface at SID Display Week 2007, May 20-25, in Long Beach, CA.

The 1900 Series is the world's first optical touch screen designed for OEM applications using displays from 12" to 30", and features a plug and play USB HID-compliant interface, or USB "digitizer" interface, that opens up tablet functionality. The Nextwindow touch sensor was recently implemented by Hewlett Packard in their new HP Touchsmart PC. The 'touch' in the Touchsmart PC is NextWindow's 1900 optical touch screen with its enhanced functionality, which allows the Touchsmart to operate Microsoft Vista's touch-friendly features.

"The 1900 sensor is fully HID compliant, plug-and-play, and powered using the USB interface," said Anthony Uhrick, VP of Sales & Marketing for NextWindow, North America. "Because it's optical, it's fast, responsive, stylus independent, and without drift. It's also simple to install, with no special gaskets or grounding issues," Uhrick continued.

In addition to the USB digitizer interface, the 1900 Series Optical Touch Screen features multi-touch size recognition such as pen touch/eraser, zooming, window re-sizing, and rotating objects; gesture recognition with navigational flicks, dual touch, and pen digitizer interface; and Z-axis, including virtual keyboards and SimPress. The technology supports, Linux, Windows and Apple operating systems

The 1900 Series Optical Touch Sensor is also versatile: it can be activated with one finger, gloved hand, or any other pointing device. Its slim design allows it to fit unobtrusively beneath the fascia or bezel of most manufacturers' display screens, providing a fully integrated solution.

Uhrick and Simon Bridger, Lead Product Engineer for NextWindow, New Zealand, will be on hand at SID at NextWindow's booth to demonstrate the 1900 Series' new capabilities and to answer questions.
