The Capoeira Workout DVD - New Release - The First Exercise Workout DVD Based on Brazilian Capoeira Martial Art And Dance

The Capoeira Workout DVD is built around the Brazilian martial art of capoeira, blending music, dance, singing, acrobatics, play, and self-defense into a unique, cohesive whole. This newly released DVD presents Capoeira specifically for fitness: A full-fledged workout for both sexes. Capoeira has a rich history: Practiced for hundreds of years in Brazil, the sport was originally developed in slave camps as a means of developing strength, rapid defensive movement, and flexibility. With its music and story-telling, capoeira has an entertainment component as well. Capoeira is an all-encompassing art offering a rich, interesting environment for physical exercise. This new DVD teaches the basic moves from scratch and also shows how capoeira can be 'played' as a game.

New York, NY (PRWEB) June 5, 2007 -- "The Capoeira Workout" DVD, the first DVD offering an exercise workout based on the Brazilian Capoeira martial art and dance has just been released and is now available in stores.

What is Capoeira?

Developed by Africans brought to Brazil as slaves more than 400 years ago, Capoeira is an all-encompassing martial art blending music, dance, singing, acrobatics, play, and self-defense. Played by men and women alike, all these arts come together in the unique, cohesive whole of Capoeira.

Why A Workout Based On Capoeira?

As a form of exercise, Capoeira engages every muscle group in the body. Playing capoeria develops flexibility, balance, coordination, and endurance, and offers significant toning and cardiovascular benefits.

How Is Capoeira Different From Other Forms Of Exercise?

Accessible to persons of any age and body type, Capoeira is much more than a martial art: Performed alone with the DVD it offers a great workout; performed with a second person it is a great game; and performed in a group --- an enthusiastic circle in which two-persons-at-a-time step to the center to perform --- Capoeira engages practitioners on the social level as well. There are capoeira clubs and groups all over the world.

The Teacher And The DVD Exercise Program

"The Capoeira Workout" DVD was created by Paula Verdino, "Instrutora Pimentinha," an award-winner at The World Capoeira Games in Brazil, and member of the global Ginga Mundo capoeira organization. Paula's workout is an open-level program, including a step-by-step breakdown of many classic capoeira moves such as "ginga" and "quexada", plus a full set of non-stop, high-energy workout sequences. The workout sections progress from isolated movements connected with transitional steps to graceful dance-like combinations. The program also includes a Capoeira solo performance by Paula and Capoeira "jogo" game demonstrations by Paula, performing with two students.

The music

All the music heard in "The Capoeira Workout" DVD comes from the original capoeira musical recordings of Mestre Bimba (Manoel dos Reis Machado), as heard in his famous release, "Mestre Bimba e a Voz do Berimbau," licensed via the Fundação Mestre Bimba, Salvador, Brasil. Music drives capoeira: It is a game with a rhythm, performed to songs that tell a story while Brazilian musical instruments such as the berimbau create an engaging atmosphere.
