And of course everyone knows J.R.R Tolkien's Hobbit and his epic; The Lord of the Rings. And yes, there's Harry Potter....But what's next? What's the buzz?
Here they are! Straight up from down under; meet The Iron Fairies.
The Iron Fairies - Volume 1 is the first in a series of three, and not just a children's adventure book or traditional novel, it's more of a schizophrenic journey through poems, drawings, tiny notes and scribblings. Patented worldwide, this is a tale for all ages. Hidden codes are tucked inside the story and are written to be interactive with the companion website at www.TheIronFairies.com
When you enter the website and descend into the iron mine, codes must be broken and doors unlocked in order to complete the final task.
But the story has yet another facet. The first of three collectible series offers 16 intricately handcrafted, artistically stunning, solid iron fairies. Each Iron Fairy has her own name and poem written about her individual and unique personality. These fairies break into two groups; the green tinted girls are thought to be "good" while to blue tinted nymphs are considered "cheeky" (or naughty.)
Each fairy, good or naughty, comes with a tiny envelope of fairy dust. "Sprinkle this dust on your fairy in rust, wait and you'll see how you've let me go free!"
The Iron Fairies - Volume 1 and The Iron Fairies collectible series are now available in the US and are being sold through independent book and gift stores.
About The Artist & Author: Ashley Sutton, is an eccentric character who once worked in the heart of Australia's northwest, deep down in the dark world of the iron mines. Join Ash as he takes his readers into his underground world giving us glimpses of the magic life below the dusty red surface of the Pilbara. See how his "real life" experiences are reflected in the enchanting, moving though often lonely "little people" living in the mines.
"I longed to escape the monotony, tedium and gloom," says Ash, "So I created this fairytale in my mind to help set my spirit free." Ashley communicates with frank and open honesty about his own life through the personalities of the miners as they deal with their daily grind.
According to Ashley, children playing in this garden stumble across three books containing drawings and secrets. These are the dairies written by the little underground miners. These secrets tell of life underground and of intricate techniques used to create "the iron fairies." Various mixes of iron dust were molten together with magical effect. All are hand-made, one-by-one, deep down in dark tunnels. But at night, when they can't be seen, the little people run out into the garden and place their fairies made of iron out into the gardens.
What happens to these fairies when morning light comes? And what is the reason behind the little iron miners making these beautiful fairies? Ashley teases with a wink, "No worries, mate…These questions and many, many more will all be answered in the series of diaries; The Iron Fairies, Volumes I, II and III."
