From their Notes client, users can effortlessly archive or migrate Notes content including emails and other documents. Orlando, FL (PRWEB) June 4, 2007 -- Proposion Software, the leading provider of integration and migration tools for IBM Lotus Notes and Microsoft SharePoint, today announced Proposion On Demand, a new product that enables Lotus Notes users to connect with Microsoft SharePoint directly from their desktops. From their Notes client, users can effortlessly archive or migrate Notes content including emails and other documents. This functionality will be available via LotusScript and can be easily incorporated into any Notes / Domino application.
Proposion On Demand enables organizations using Lotus Domino and Microsoft SharePoint Technologies (MOSS 2007 or WSS V3) to empower their Notes users with managing their own email and document archiving or migration needs. By conveying this capability to the Notes users, organizations are freeing valuable IT resources and are extending the use of Microsoft SharePoint as a document management resource for their company.
Proposion On Demand, currently in beta, allows documents selected by users to be archived to designated SharePoint destinations synchronously, in real time. Users simply click the destination button or drag and drop the document into the appropriate destination folder. Users may also be immediately directed to their new document(s) on SharePoint.
Whether for migration or collaboration between Notes and SharePoint, the following business scenarios are examples of how Proposion On Demand can be utilized:
1. For user-based migration of Notes content to SharePoint. 2. As an integrated document management solution between Notes and SharePoint.
"Many of Proposion's enterprise customers using Proposion Portal Migrator have indicated that Portal Migrator is great for mapping and moving volumes of Notes content to SharePoint, however they also wanted a solution that allowed their Notes users to make some of the content migration decisions (yet didn't have to do any Notes-to-SharePoint mapping). Proposion On Demand accomplishes this business requirement and then some." states Stephen Walch, Proposion's founder and president. "While we were developing Proposion On Demand, we quickly realized in talking with our customers and system integrator partners, that Proposion On Demand could also fulfill the needs of collaborative document management for large Lotus Notes organizations that are implementing SharePoint. Many corporations, law firms, and government agencies see enormous potential for document management as it relates to compliance, project management, and more."
As Marc Werner-Nietz of Festo AG (a Proposion Portal Migrator customer) states "Not only are we excited about the success we've seen thus far with Proposion Portal Migrator, but with Proposion's upcoming release of Proposion On Demand we'll be able to take our project to another strategic level - our Users. Complimenting our project team migrating hundreds of Notes databases to SharePoint, we'll also be able to empower our Users to selectively migrate their own personal data to SharePoint. This will ensure that no pertinent data is overlooked or omitted throughout Festo's enterprise."
Proposion On Demand consists of the following components: 1. Web service interface: accepts posted document data and immediately adds the document to the selected SharePoint destination according to the predefined rules and user-selected options. 2. Client-side library: copies the contents of a Notes document to an intermediate format and posts it to the above web service. 3. Sample Notes actions and scripts: can be added to any Notes application (including a mail template) which allows users to archive selected documents at the click of a button (using the above client-side library).
Because Proposion On Demand incorporates Proposion N2N (Proposion's ADO.NET data driver for Lotus Notes), it can convert any Notes document and supports the conversion of Notes items, attachments, embedded images, multi-valued items, rich text, dynamically computed values and much more. Similarly, Proposion's industry leading migration tool Proposion Portal Migrator is also built into Proposion On Demand, so administrators have fine-grained control as to how these elements get mapped to SharePoint as well as the ability to completely manage access control issues.
Proposion On Demand is complemented by Proposion's other products: Proposion Portal Migrator, Proposion N2N, Proposion Portal Adapter (a set of native SharePoint web parts for Notes Mail and Calendar), and Proposion Report Adapter (which extends Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to Lotus Notes).
