Lucid Data's PDExpress is Selected by New York Schools to Manage Professional Development Schenectady City School District and the West Irondequoit Central School District in New York have selected PDExpress to manage their professional development processes and data. Milford, OH (PRWEB) June 11, 2007 -- Lucid Data Corporation is pleased to announce that Schenectady City School District and the West Irondequoit Central School District in New York have selected PDExpress to manage their professional development processes and data.
PDExpress provides an efficient way to organize, manage and report on the professional activities of teachers. School districts are able to decrease the administrative time spent managing professional development programs, automate the professional development approval process, eliminate paper forms, create reports on classes and credits and achieve an immediate return on their investment. As a Web-based system, PDExpress centralizes information and gives teachers more control over their professional development information and opportunities. It merges certification information, human resources information and professional development information so that these departments are all accessing and working with the same data.
"PDExpress is a perfect fit for Schenectady Schools," says Mariann Bellai, Professional Development Specialist. "We offer a very ambitious professional development program in which coordination, continuity and communication are all key factors. PDExpress, which can be tailored to our needs, supports all of these including our efforts to streamline our program and make it more efficient and manageable. Implementing PDExpress will certainly help improve overall communication within our professional development program and will alleviate the time we currently spend on organizational process."
Using PDExpress, staff can write their personal professional development plans and submit them electronically for approval. The district can post workshops and staff can register from school or home. So they know where they are in the re-certification process, staff can access their own certification and credit information, view information on classes and print a transcript of their completed activities and workshops. This helps staff plan their professional development more effectively and eliminates the last-minute rush to take college credits or district workshops.
Staff can also complete a proposal to participate in an outside professional development activity which is routed electronically to the appropriate person(s) for approval at the building and/or district level. Staff are then notified when approval is given by automated email cutting down response time and communication barriers.
Karen Finter, Director of the West Irondquoit Teaching Learning Center, says, "Our district has given a lot of thought as to how we can move to a more automated professional development management system. We have looked at many products, but when we looked at PDExpress, we found it to be very user-friendly and compatible with our current systems. It met all of our technical specifications and then some, but it wasn't overly cumbersome with unwieldy layers of management. It fit our unique needs without a lot of restructuring of our existing systems. The PDExpress team is very willing to work with our district to assist with our roll-out to our staff."
