LAEDC Economist Awarded Inaugural Dr. Robert T. Parry Award for Exemplary Contributions to the Field of Economics

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) June 14, 2007 -- The Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (LANABE) awarded the inaugural Dr. Robert T. Parry Award to Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) Vice President and Senior Economist Dr. Nancy D. Sidhu. The Parry Award, named for the former Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco President and LANABE President, is awarded annually to an economist in the Los Angeles area for his or her contribution to the local economics community.

"Dr. Sidhu's contribution to the local banking industry and most recently her role in elevating the caliber of LAEDC's economic consulting practice are well known to business and government leaders throughout the area," said Bill Allen, LAEDC president and CEO. "This award acknowledges the deep respect and appreciation of the countless number of individuals who have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Sidhu over the years. She has helped build the consulting practice at the LAEDC into one of the premier economic consulting organizations in the United States."

Dr. Sidhu conducts economic research for the LAEDC's public and private sector clients. She specializes in regional industry analysis and forecasting, local area economic and demographic research, and economic impact analysis. In addition, Dr. Sidhu prepares forecasts of national and industry trends for LAEDC's economic research publications and delivers speeches to audiences throughout California.

Before joining the LAEDC in 1998, Dr. Sidhu served as Vice President and Senior Economist for Bank of America and Security Pacific National Bank. In addition to her banking experience, she also held positions with Northeastern Illinois University, Inland Steel Industries and Toyota Motor Sales USA. Dr. Sidhu currently serves on the Economic Advisory Committee of the California Chamber of Commerce. A longstanding member of LANABE, Dr. Sidhu was the chapter president in 1991-1992.

Dr. Sidhu received her Bachelor of Arts, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degrees in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
