De La Soul, Girl Talk, Particle Sail to Kentucky For Grassroots Forecastle Festival

The 2007 Forecastle Festival in Louisville, Kentucky, will feature nationally-known music headliners De La Soul, Girl Talk and Particle, along with over 40 other bands from six states, plus visual art and environmental activism. The two day festival July 27 and 28 will also feature several label showcases, independent films, an outdoor extreme sports park and a series of environmental panels including a keynote address from outdoor enthusiast/activist Skip Yowell.

Louisville, KY (PRWEB) June 15, 2007 -- De La Soul, Girl Talk, and Particle will headline the sixth annual Forecastle Festival, a nautically-themed, two-day event to be held at Louisville's Riverfront Belvedere July 27 and 28. The groups will join over forty independent bands from across the Midwest as the festival expands both its focus regionally and nationally, with a platform that offers equal expression to musicians, artists, and environmentalists.

As part of that expanded environmental focus, author/activist/entrepreneur Skip Yowell has been tapped as the first-ever keynote speaker for Forecastle. Yowell, co-founder and vice-president of Jansport and Big City Mountaineers, was recently honored as one of the "Top Ten Outdoor Persons of the Year" by Hooked on the Outdoors magazine. In addition to Yowell's address, a new series of environmental panels and films will be added to this year's festival, along with speakers, an eco-business expo, several label showcases, and an outdoor extreme sports park.

Louisville's Riverfront Belvedere and its adjacent Galt House Hotel, official hotel headquarters of Forecastle 2007, boast an illustrious music festival association and experience, having served as permanent home to the old KFC Bluegrass Festival.

Now in its sixth year, Forecastle has grown from a $500 neighborhood gathering to the largest gathering of musicians, artists, and activists in the Midwest. It was named "One of the top 101 things to do in America " by SPIN Magazine last year, with recent write-ups by Billboard and other national outlets. Founder JK McKnight is delighted with the growth and expansion of "one of the most unique summer events in the country."

Tickets for Forecastle 2007 are available online through TicketWeb and TicketMaster, as well as at ear X-tacy records in Louisville, Indy CD & Vinyl in Indianapolis, Shake-It Records in Cincinnati, and Grimey's New and Preloved Music in Nashville. Ticket prices range from $10 to $50.

Up to the minute information on ticket availability, expanded lineup, kickoff, after-parties, sneak peek events and more are available on both the official Forecastle website at www.forecastlefest.com and on MySpace.com at www.myspacecom/forecastle.
