Help for Orphans International's Executive Director Sarah Ehrlich Gives Humanitarian Award at the United Nations

Help for Orphans International's (HFOI) Executive Director Sarah Ehrlich Hits the United Nations. HFOI awarded a famous humanitarian "The Love and Help Children Award".

United Nations, New York, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- Help for Orphans International (HFOI) was on hand to present a humanitarian award to panelist Ole Petenya Y. Shani of the Shompole Community Trust in Kenya, for his outstanding efforts in advancing business growth in his community.

Shani delivered a riveting speech stressing the importance of investing in and growing the human capacity of involvement in communities to get the point where they are self-supporting. Sarah Erhlich, executive director and founder of HFOI (http://www.helpfororphans.org), validated his sentiments with her take on sustainability: "The schools that we are building, are not only built by the people of Kenya, but they are for the people of Kenya." She continued, "In a world where most development in economically challenged countries is funded by outside investment for outside enjoyment--as the end-user is typically the tourism industry--our schools ensure the continued support of indigenous wisdom and aim to further the entrepreneurial spirit in our students long after they graduate.

Dominique Conseil, President of AVEDA and moderator for the lively discussion of panelists that included Dr. Richard Walley for the Nyoongar people of Australia, Chief Yawanawa of Brazil, and Equator Prize Finalists from Mexico, concluded the event praising HFOI efforts and correlated education as an entrepreneurial investment of sustainable communities in the highest order.
