Walden University Announces Nursing Informatics Specialization

Walden University, an accredited online distance-learning institution, is offering a new Nursing Informatics specialization within its Master of Science program in Nursing.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) June 24, 2007 -- Walden University, an accredited online institution, is establishing a Nursing Informatics specialization in its Master of Science program in Nursing. This is a response to the growing need for health care providers to manage patient information with the latest technology. Nurses with informatics skills are continuing to be in higher demand.

www.waldenu.edu is one of the few nursing programs offering informatics programs entirely online, and is intended to fit into the schedules of working professionals who are continuing their higher education. The curriculum of the Nursing Informatics program combines nursing science, computer science and information science as proposed by experts in the field. The specialization offers nurses information technology skills to enhance the safety and quality of patient care.

The Nursing Informatics specialization is designed so students will learn from experts in the nursing and health care informatics fields and apply that knowledge. The courses address the latest trends in nursing informatics and the role they play in health care. Fieldwork experiences provide students opportunities to apply their new knowledge immediately.

Walden University's Master of Science program in Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, a national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education is the only national accrediting agency to focus solely on bachelor's and graduate degree programs in nursing education.
