Photoshop Community Launches Regular Design Contests and New Design Gallery The Photoshop community, www.PhotoChopz.com, has announced the launch of new weekly and monthly design contests and a new Photoshop design gallery to showcase member designs and "chopz" - humorous and spoof edits of photographs. Boise, ID (PRWEB) June 26, 2007 -- Photoshop artists with a flair for the satirical can now win awards for their humorous photo edits, or "chopz," thanks to a newly-launched series of weekly and monthly themed design contests from the Photoshop community (http://www.photochopz.com/forum), PhotoChopz.com. The new contests aim to reward already active members and designers for their spoof, sarcastic, and humorous alterations to chosen monthly photos or themes where designers can choose their own photos.
"We already have over 18,000 threads with over 340,000 posts to date, and the forum only launched in May 2006," says Josh Bond, owner of PhotoChopz.com. "Many of our founding members had a passion for funny spoof-style designs of user-submitted photos and pictures they found around the net. Now they can earn money for doing just that with our new contests. We have plenty of chopz already, but the contests are a way for us to give back to designers who are here doing what they love and sharing their skills."
Designers can register with PhotoChopz.com for a free membership to not only share their photos and designs (http://www.photochopz.com) or to learn design techniques (which will be hosted in the community's new user picture gallery), but also participate in the new series of contests for prizes. The current contest winner will receive a $100 Best Buy gift card. The theme of the current contest is for designers to choose a photo of a celebrity, and make them look as "bad" as possible as a spoof on the stereotype of celebrities always "looking good." Some examples given for the contest would be for designers to "chop" their favorite celebrity photos by turning the celebrity into a zombie, burn victim, or even to age them a few decades. The deadline for the current PhotoChopz contest is July 15th.
"Even though there are several Photoshop contest (http://www.photochopz.com) sites on the Web, PhotoChopz is able to stand out due to the fun nature of our contests, our laid back atmosphere, and very active and exciting forum," says Bond. "There's also the fact that members don't have to be professional graphic designers to fit in, learn something new, and have a good time." About PhotoChopz.com:
PhotoChopz.com is a Photoshop community of designers offering design tips and contests. The forum was launched by members of various other sites who enjoy photoshopping pictures into amusing and funny situations. They launched PhotoChopz for the purpose of being a safe haven for their humorous and often satirical designs. The community holds monthly contests with specific design themes, and offers a gallery of members' photos.
