New Website Puts Focus on Good Deeds and Positive Interactions

Thanks-o-meter.com offers visitors a place to post a 'Thank You', share feelings about their experiences with others and enter a story about the nice things people do for them. The site offers a blend of user generated content, charts, graphs and Top 10 lists to create a unique representation of the positive interactions occurring within our communities.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) July 9, 2007 -- Based on the premise that people do nice things every day, a new web site is giving people the chance to prove it. Thanks-o-meter.com offers visitors a place to post a 'Thank You', share feelings about their experiences with others and enter a story about the nice things people do for them.

The site will officially launch July 9th, 2007.

"I'd like it to become a catalyst for bringing attention to the positive things happening in our communities," said George Garner, creator of Thanks-o-meter.com. In addition to authoring their own stories of gratitude, visitors have the option of forwarding others' submissions with a private message attached. "Hopefully, it will put a 21st century spin on that old adage, 'good news travels fast'," Garner added.

The site features a running total of the number of 'Thank You' submissions and stories, as well as other statistics, such as graphs showing the most frequently-selected categories of thanks ('for volunteering', 'for being a great teacher', 'for being generous', etc.), and feelings ('happy', 'loved', 'proud', 'relieved', etc.). Statistical information on the site also includes the most frequently read stories, the most forwarded stories, as well as relationships and trends in the data. Visitors don't have to include a story with their entry, though -- submissions can be as simple as selecting a type of 'Thank You', and then clicking on how it made them feel.

The Thanks-o-meter.com site is free.

Also available are organization accounts, which capture entries from a group's members. These accounts allow users to toggle between views of their own account's data and charts showing the aggregate public site data. Organization account holders also receive quarterly reports of their member's submissions, stories and overall site activity. Accounts are currently $199 per year, plus a $49 set-up fee. Charities and religious organizations have the set-up fee waived, and public elementary schools are being offered free accounts for the 2007-08 school year. "The organization accounts are a way for members to share feedback that is specific to their organization," explained Garner. "Businesses, schools, faith-based groups, sports leagues -- all kinds of groups -- would be able to read, collect and share the Thanks-o-meter data they receive."
