Overall for the quarter, sales were three times their third quarter level as consumers showed growing demand for New England and specifically Massachusetts products and gifts.

Sales Triple In Fourth Quarter

WESTON, Mass. -- January, 7, 2003 -- Massachusetts Bay Trading Company (www.massbaytrading.com), the premier web site featuring products associated with Massachusetts, has announced that December sales showed 83% growth over the previous record November sales. Overall for the quarter, sales were three times their third quarter level as consumers showed growing demand for New England and specifically Massachusetts products and gifts.

"Lobsters were the big seller this holiday season," according to Bob Nilsson, president. "We shipped the live creatures from Boston to locations including New Mexico, California, Wisconsin, and South Carolina."

The store's product line continued to grow, now including almost 500 individual items made in Massachusetts. Recent additions include Wicked Walnuts, hand made goat milk soaps, a number of new books by Massachusetts authors and photographers, a new greeting card line, and additional art works by Massachusetts artists. The store also recently added an extensive line of corporate gifts. These new products join the established offering of Nantucket lightship baskets, local candies, candles, light houses, porcelain, wooden bowls, oil lamps, art prints, games and puzzles.

The company credits the Yankee Trader Affiliate Program with helping to propel the site forward. Launched in September, the affiliate program has proven successful both for MBTC and program participants.
