GVS Filter Technology Selects ADMET for Force Testing: eXpert 5601 Tests Ultrasonic Welds Joining Filter Fabrics to Support Frames/Covers GVS Filter Technology Inc. of Indianapolis, the U.S. subsidiary of GVS Group, has selected an eXpert 5601 Universal Testing Machine (UTM) from ADMET Inc. to conduct compressive failure tests of filters and housings. Norwood, Mass. (PRWEB) July 17, 2007 -- GVS Filter Technology Inc. of Indianapolis, the U.S. subsidiary of GVS Group, has selected an eXpert 5601 Universal Testing Machine (UTM) from ADMET Inc. to conduct compressive failure tests of filters and housings.
Resolution over a wide range The purchase follows extensive research that evaluated several vendors on price and performance. Explained Randal Hauck, GVS quality assurance manager, "I had pretty simple requirements. I was looking for the capability to test to over 200 lbf but to also be able to read a fraction of a Newton and have accurate resolution throughout the range."
Only ADMET delivered to those specifications using a single load cell. The eXpert 5601 225 lbf (1kN -- kilo Newton) machine is equipped with the company's eP Digital Controller. It is specified to be accurate to 1/30,000th of the full range -- in this case, well into sub-Newton range.
The ADMET system is being used in GVS' quality lab to test membrane adhesion to plastic, and ultrasonic welds that join plastic filter components. The welds are subjected to compressive tests-to-failure to ensure product integrity. GVS uses a wide range of thermoplastics, elastomers and technologically advanced materials, including ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene), Nylon, Polypropylene, Polyethylene, PVC (polyvinyl chloride) and Polycarbonate.
Hauck made his selection based on the eXpert's capabilities, the knowledge and support of the ADMET staff and price. ADMET also met GVS' requirement for fast delivery, shipping the system from its U.S. manufacturing facility within three weeks. ADMET's service included onsite setup and testing, as well as training, test routine programming and ongoing phone support.
