Paramount PDS Announces Major Expansion of Laser Sintering Operations for Direct Digital Rapid Manufacturing of Large-sized Nylon Parts Paramount PDS, a leading specialist in direct digital rapid manufacturing and product development services, has announced a major expansion of its laser sintering operations, with the addition of a new EOSINT P700 system capable of producing parts of unprecedented size and durability. Langhorne PA (PRWEB) July 19, 2007 -- Paramount PDS (http://paramountind.com), a leading product development and direct digital rapid manufacturing specialist, has announced a major expansion of its laser sintering operations, with the addition of a new EOSINT P700 system capable of producing parts of unprecedented size and durability.
In six years of successful commercial applications in rapid prototyping, the P700 has become a proven large-platform laser sintering technology. The new system has the capability, for the first time, to generate laser sintered parts measuring up to 27.6 in x 15 in x 22.9 in (700 mm x380 mm x 580 mm) in a single piece. Until now, part sizes in this magnitude had to be manufactured in multiple pieces, then bonded together, providing a significantly lesser level of strength, application durability and part quality.
Paramount CEO Jim Williams said the move is a key step in an aggressive program to enhance the company's leadership in the emerging field of direct digital rapid manufacturing, in which parts are produced directly from CAD output, eliminating expensive and time-consuming tooling and adding new speed as well as economy to the product development and manufacturing process. Elimination of fabrication fixtures and bonding labor will further result in cost savings to Paramount customers, he noted.
Williams noted that the capability to produce larger-size parts incorporating highly-durable materials will serve major needs in defense and aerospace, including new generations of UAVs, as well as medical devices, health care and automotive applications. He cited in particular applications in highly-sophisticated systems that require limited quantities of parts that can be produced quickly, and easily altered to meet evolving specifications.
Paramount Industries (http://paramountind.com) is among the world's most experienced providers of comprehensive product development services, including design engineering, rapid prototyping, tooling and new direct digital rapid manufacturing technology that produces custom parts direct from 3D CAD input.
