Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver, Canada - Donate Old Computers to Charity; Don't Let Them Become an Environmental Liability in Landfills or Smelters

Hundreds of charities are waiting for laptops, computers, and servers, that they can not afford, that a company or family may be tossing into the landfills.

(PRWEB) July 18, 2007 -- Many businesses and residents in Alberta, British Columbia and Canada are blessed to have the latest and greatest technology, including the best servers, the biggest laptops, and the newest and latest gadgets, ipod's, etc.

Unfortunately sometimes these well off businesses and residents forget about the other people in Canada, and across the world, that are not as fortunate, and end up tossing away very nice laptops, computers, servers, telephones, and all kinds of electronics gadgets. This equipment then ends up in our landfills polluting the environment, or even worse, working laptops and computers end up in smelters.

Organizations such as the Red Cross, frequently need and request older laptops, and telephones to use in emergency response shelters, in case of earthquakes, and environmental disasters. They can use the same computers and laptops the well off companies and residents are tossing away.

The Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta and British Columbia has for the past 5 years been collecting old laptops, computers, monitors, servers, networking equipment, and all kind of electronic equipment for donation. ERA has recently donated hundreds of computers, monitors, laptops and printers to several charities and non profits in Alberta and BC. Some of those charities include The Edmonton Brain Injury Reconnecting Society, The Lung Association of Alberta, The Calgary Drop In Center, West Coast Domestic Workers Association in Vancouver, Amber Heart Society in Surrey, and many more. Many more charities are waiting for computers and laptops, and a partial list of those can be found on the ERA website at www.era.ca

The ERA issues this appeal to companies and the public in Alberta, BC and across Canada, to prevent these useful computers from going into the landfills, and to help out many charities and non profit groups.

If you or your company can help, please visit the ERA website at www.era.ca or your local ERA office.
