Afternic.com Under New Ownership

The Afternic.com domain name was purchased by the owners of NameBuySell.com, a competing domain name exchange. NameBuySell will change its name and Internet address to Afternic.com.

After purchasing the Afternic.com domain name and related assets, ProProject Inc changed the name and Internet address of its original domain name auction site NameBuySell.com to Afternic.com on December 27th, 2002. ProProject is a successful developer of software and websites. Afternic.com is the most recognized name in the secondary domain name market.

ProProject will concentrate on partnering with registrars. Roger Collins, President of ProProject said, The #1 customer complaint at registrars is that all the good domain names are taken. A partnership with Afternic.com addresses this complaint by allowing the registrars to show premium domains for sale, in addition to unregistered domains, when customers search for their desired domain names."

The new" Afternic.com provides services for both buyers and sellers to find, negotiate, and execute safe domain name transactions. Unlike other domain exchange sites that are owned or affiliated with registrars, Afternic is registrar neutral under its new ownership. In addition, Afternic now offers 50% commissions to affiliates and domain name owners who park their domains on Afternic, a program pioneered on NameBuySell.com.
