Denver, CO and New York City (PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- In Diamonds to Dust film historian Frank Ferruccio shares the true-life story of iconic blonde Jayne Mansfield, chronicling her rise to fame, her notorious exploits, and her tragic death at the young age of 34. In between marriage and motherhood (Jayne is the mother of Law and Order SVU's star Mariska Hargitay) this award-winning actress and original Playboy centerfold became the first major star to appear nude in film.

Outskirts Press is pleased to announce the publication of Diamonds to Dust: The Life and Death of Jayne Mansfield. Author and film historian Frank Ferruccio tells the story of a "Dumb Hollywood Blonde" who could really speak five languages, play concert violin and piano, and had an IQ of 163. She appeared in nearly 30 films, including 1957's Will Success Spoil Rock Hudson, was married three times, had five children, and was the only Playboy Playmate who ever got publisher Hugh Hefner arrested for indecency--and all before her life was tragically cut short in an auto accident.

When asked why he wrote this book, Ferruccio says: "I really am writing this because I feel there is not enough literary material on Jayne, and there has not been a major book written about her in the past fifteen years. With Jayne's youngest daughter, Mariska Hargitay, now such a huge personality and extremely talented award-winning actress, there has been much renewed interest in Jayne and I feel it is time to the story to be told in its truest form."

Diamonds to Dust is available through all major book distributors and through www.JayneMansfield.net.
