Alameda, CA (PRWEB) August 2, 2007 -- Entries are now being accepted for the 2nd Annual 2007 Great California Workplaces Award, sponsored by the Employer Resource Institute (www.employeradvice.com). The award recognizes California employers of all sizes that have implemented unique, innovative or exceptionally effective programs that make them stand out.

"California is in many ways a unique environment for employers, and the goal of the ERI Great California Workplaces Award is to share the best practices of top employers in our state," says Matthew Humphrey, General Manager of ERI. "We're looking for real practices that work for real businesses -- tactics that make them better places to work and more successful organizations."

All contest entries will be reviewed by a team of ERI staff members, who will narrow the applicants down to a pool of finalists. Six expert judges will make the final call and determine the winner. This year's judges are: Lloyd W. Aubry, Jr., Esq., of Morrison & Foerster; Shari Dunn of CompAnalysis; Diana C. Gregory, SPHR, of Administaff; Allen M. Kato, Esq., of Fenwick & West; Allison West, Esq., SPHR, of Employment Practices Specialists; and Rhoma Young of Rhoma Young & Associates.

The grand prize winner of the 2007 Great California Workplaces Award will receive a one-year subscription to California Employer Advisor Online (a $399 value), front-page coverage in an upcoming issue of the California Employer Advisor and an engraved award plaque for display. Three honorable mentions will receive a mention in an upcoming issue of the California Employer Advisor and an engraved award plaque for display.

The 2006 grand-prize winner was Insomniac Games in Burbank, one of the most successful video game developers for the Sony Playstation. Insomniac Games, founded in 1994, stood out to our panel of judges for its peer-to-peer recognition plan and highly accessible, visible CEO. Honorable mentions went to ITS Corporation in Oxnard, FFF Enterprises in Temecula and the San Joaquin Regional Transit District in Stockton. More information about the grand-prize winner is available at http://www.employeradvice.com/public/2567.cfm.
