Record Company Seeks Old Hymns From New Talent

A Hollywood music producer is seeking old, household-name hymns for her record label. She wants a friendly, recognizable version, but with the creative stamp of the artist making a distinct and refreshing difference. She hopes to new talent and fresh voices performing old hymns.

Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) August 6, 2007 -- Goodnight Kiss Records is conducting a search for new recordings of old hymns for a spring record release. To find new talent, the company and sponsors are holding an online song contest for submissions.

Sponsored by mega music host Broadjam.com, entrants will find a credible, well-run platform to get their music online and into the contest. The judging is done solely by the owner of the record label. Running until August 31, the prizes include iPods and royalty advances, as well as landing a place on the CD, which will be sold at popular sites like iTunes.

For those with recordings to enter, but no knowledge of how to place songs online, Broadjam is there to help. Entrants can call Broadjam at (608)-271-3633, weekdays from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. CST, and instructions will be given as how to enter a CD by mail. Entrants new to Broadjam.com get a free 6-months website where they can show their songs online to whomever they choose, just for entering.

Fisher started creating plans for the album a few months ago, and spoke to Broadjam, with whom she'd worked on numerous projects, about opening the doors to new talent via the contest.

"We're creating a pop/rock hymns album, followed by country and then instrumental. It will be wonderful to hear old, friendly songs done with a new breath of life. I'm really pleased to be releasing this on our label with our other amazing records. Each year our talent pool gets wider, and we discover new artists, from all sorts of places. Broadjam is key to this, as anyone can get their songs online via their system, from anywhere in the country or the world."

Songs like "Just As I Am," "In The Garden" and "Nearer My God To Thee" are examples of the type hymns the company is looking for, but with the admonition that artists are expected to put a bit of themselves into the mix.

When asked if they will be accepting original songs from songwriters, Fisher was clear as to preference, but did qualify, "We will listen to original hymns, but our true focus is on hymns that are familiar to most churchgoers. In saying that, I have signed one original hymn that was submitted, actually, but several more artist interpretations of traditional works."

Goodnight Kiss Records has a respectable number of above-the-bar records released since the 1990s, including classic icon songwriters (Jack Segal: When Sunny Gets Blue ... And Other Songs I Wrote), an addiction CD being used as a teaching aid in a Las Vegas high school, and other specialized art CDs.

"The joy of directing an indie company is that each project can have a personality of its own. We don't tend to get stuck with one style of music or project. The Hymns Contest is a really inspiring project that I love working on. It's a very uplifting way to spend music time," says Fisher.

Winners and runners up will also receive some nice promotion via Broadjam.com's news and the Goodnight Kiss Music News, as well as their prizes. To enter the HYMNS Song Contest, see below:
