How to Break Out from Limiting Beliefs that Block Happiness and Sucess

Belief system expert tells how to find and break out from hidden beliefs that block happiness and success.

Palm Springs, CA (PRWEB) August 14, 2007 -- "If you are trapped in a system of limiting beliefs, setting goals and practicing affirmations is like charging the bars of a prison door head-first, over and over again," according to belief system expert, Mandy Evans.

Evans is the author of two books on the subject, "Travelling Free: How to Recover from the Past by Changing Your Beliefs" and "Emotional Options: A Handbook for Happiness." She is the originator of the "Breakout from Limiting Beliefs" seminar and draws on over thirty years of experience as a life-coach, speaker and seminar leader.

Leaders in the field of human consciousness such as Deepak Chopra and Joe Vitale, author of the "The Attractor Factor," endorse her work. John Gray, author of "Men Are from Mars, Women Are from Venus" says, "Mandy Evans' work with belief systems is strong and clear...empowering."

A free list of the "Top 20 Most Popular Limiting Beliefs" and " 50 Beliefs About Money" are available at http://www.mandyevans.com. The next presentation of Evans' Breakout seminar is October 19 --21 in Palm Springs, CA. To participate call 760-328-0858 or visit the website.

"Until recently," Evans says, "there was very little public awareness of the role beliefs play in people's lives outside of religious dogma. A flood of new information from best-selling self-help books and the hit video, "The Secret" has people talking and wondering which ones are tripping them up. A recent Google search turned up 333,000 results for 'limiting beliefs' in 0.15 seconds."

Evans offers this 5 step approach to help people find and eliminate beliefs that block their happiness and success

Define "Limiting Beliefs"

A limiting belief is a falsehood that you accept as true. You live by it as part of your individual version of reality. It prevents you from making choices that expand your growth, knowledge, prosperity, happiness and success. It defeats you from thriving and flourishing, no matter how hard you try.

Find Your Limiting Beliefs

Limiting beliefs are usually hidden. The ones we are not aware of cause the most damage. Two reliable clues indicate that you are operating from a limiting belief.

The first is if you are stuck in a feeling you do not like such as persistent resentment, worry or guilt. Healthy emotions come and go. When an unwelcome emotion like resentment interferes with your life, you can be sure you believe something that is not true. Find out what the feeling is about.

The second clue is if you want something and believe you can't have it. If there is an experience, a material object like a new car, or a goal such as greater prosperity that seems reachable for other people but not for you, most likely you view life through the distorted lens of a self-defeating belief. If you ask yourself why you cannot have it, your answer will be a limiting belief.

Question Your Feelings and Beliefs

When you find a belief such as "I don't deserve to do well" or "I can't be happy until someone else changes," celebrate! Now you can question that belief.

Ask yourself these three questions:

- Do I believe that?

- Why Do I believe it?

- What might I be afraid would happen if I did not believe it?

Be a Seeker of Truth

Don't try to judge your beliefs as positive or negative. Pass up the struggle to replace your version of reality with a better one. As the poet Keats said, "Truth is beauty and Beauty is truth. That is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know."

Welcome the Empty Space

Every time you eliminate a limiting or self-defeating belief you create more space for truth and beauty. Do not rush to fill up that empty place with another belief. Allow for quite, even confusion. Keep the door open for inspiration to pour in.

When asked how long it takes to clear limiting beliefs, Evans replies with a smile, "Forever! But if you knew that from this day on you would be happier, clearer and more able to succeed, when would you want that to end?"
