Sag Harbor, NY (PRWEB) August 18, 2007 -- The 'Vladimir Nielsen Festival' will be closing its first season with a series of public performances. Audiences are invited to attend Saturday afternoon concerts and a 'Concerto Night' at the newly renovated facilities custom designed for the festival. Performances will feature young and accomplished pianists who were selected to participate through a stringent audition process.

"The Festival is dedicated to the memory of the great twentieth century pianist, Vladimir Nielsen," says the Artistic Director of the festival, Victoria Mushkatkol, "The Mission of the festival is to provide a select group of approximately 15 accomplished young pianists with the finest educational program under conditions that encourage serious studies." The young musicians are between the ages of 13 and 24. Many are students at the Juilliard School and the Curtis Institute. During the four-week session, each student receives private lessons and supervised practice time, attends master classes, theory and music history lectures. Participants also perform in weekly concerts in the Festival Concert Hall.

Located in the historic village of Sag Harbor in the heart of the Hamptons, the festival grounds are tucked away in a quiet and private setting. The state-of-the-art complex features practice rooms and all-inclusive living facilities for students, as well as a newly built concert hall overlooking the grounds for indoor and outdoor performances. After a day's practice, festival participants enjoy a heated pool and a Jacuzzi.

The culmination of the opening season will be a grand finale concert in the Festival Concert Hall on Saturday, August 25, at 5:00 p.m. Tickets are $75 and reservations are required. Other performances will take place on Saturday, August 18th at 5:00 p.m. and a Concerto Night Concert on Wednesday, August 22 at 7 p.m. For ticket reservations and concert information please call 631-899-4074.
