Vista UAC Spells Trouble for Remote I.T. Help Desks

Remote support techs overcome Vista Accept or Deny limitations with Instant Housecall.

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) August 27, 2007 -- Companies upgrading to Windows Vista are turning to Instant Housecall as they discover a new hurdle for their remote support (http://www.instanthousecall.com) help desks: Vista's 'Accept or Deny' prompts can't be clicked remotely. Instant Housecall's recent release of its remote support suite overcomes this hurdle and gives technicians full control of any Windows computer through firewalls.

Microsoft added User Account Control (UAC) to Windows Vista when it launched earlier this year. The new feature met with mixed reviews.

Vista's UAC adds an extra layer of security to the new Windows operating system. It asks users to Accept or Deny routine tasks like installing and uninstalling software.

While companies with remote help desks need to support Vista, the new UAC security feature blocks programs while it waits for users to click Accept or Deny. For remote help desks, that means the remote control tools they use are locked out along with the technicians who use them.

"We didn't want to turn off UAC, but we couldn't click Accept or Deny in Vista. Our remote support (http://www.instanthousecall.com) techs were locked out", explains Stan Beaufort of Quantum Technologies.

"Instant Housecall is the perfect solution. It lets our technicians click Vista's Accept or Deny prompts, it goes through firewalls, it took no time to set up, and we can track all of our support activities in a central location."

Instant Housecall is an invitation-only remote support (http://www.instanthousecall.com) solution. It lets technicians remotely support all versions of the Windows operating system, from Windows 95 to Vista. Instant Housecall works through firewalls with no configuration.
