Bemz and IKEAhacker Launch '2nd Chance' Sofa Contest

Consumers submit photo of their shabby sofa. Readers vote on which entry they think should win. Winner receives $500 coupon toward spiffy, new Bemz slipcover. Sofa is saved!

Woodside, Calif. (PRWEB) September 6, 2007 -- Bemz (http://www.bemz.com/), the Swedish company that designs and sells slipcovers for IKEA sofas and chairs, has partnered with IKEAhacker (http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/) to help save tired and worn sofas and armchairs from consignment to curbside trash collection and then languishing in a local landfill.

To raise awareness of the plight of many IKEA sofas and armchairs around the world, many of which may look rather shabby after years of dutiful service, Bemz and IKEAhacker have launched the "2nd Chance" contest (http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/2007/09/win-customized-bemz-slipcover.html), open to any visitor to bemz.com or ikeahacker.blogspot.com that lets consumers submit photos of their armchair or sofa in its current state so that visitors to IKEAhacker can vote on whether it deserves a new, tailor-made slipcover from Bemz.

Here's how the contest* works:

1.    Take a photo or two of your IKEA sofa or armchair just as it is right now. Ideally, your photo should highlight the condition of its current slipcover, with particular focus on rips, tears, stains or other signs of its eventful existence on planet Earth.

2.    Next, go to bemz.com, select your sofa or armchair, and choose a brand spanking new slipcover from among the dozens of Bemz removable, washable slipcovers that are available -- for both current and recent IKEA models. Save a photo of your selection by clicking on "Zoom In" and then right-clicking on the image (Mac users should control-click) to save it to your computer.

3.    Finally, email your photos, the image you downloaded from bemz.com, and your heartfelt reasons why your sofa or armchair needs a new Bemz slipcover to ikeahacker [at gmail [dot com. We must receive your entry by 5pm PDT on Friday, October 5, 2007.

All entries will be posted on IKEAhacker so that visitors can vote on which sofa should win. The ten sofas with the most votes will be short-listed, and a winner from among these finalists will be chosen by a judging panel composed of Bemz' in-house designer, Katarina Wiklund, Susan Martin of ikeafans blog (http://www.ikeafans.com) and Jules Yap of IkeaHacker blog (http://ikeahacker.blogspot.com/). The winning entry will be announced on October 10, 2007.
