Survey Reveals Most Car Buyers Don't Know Car Insurance Cost

A new and exclusive poll conducted by automotive web site BuyingAdvice.com (http://www.buyingadvice.com/) reveals that a majority of car buyers do not check the impact on their insurance bill before choosing a new car.

(PRWEB) September 10, 2007 -- A new and exclusive poll conducted by automotive web site BuyingAdvice.com (http://www.buyingadvice.com/) reveals that a majority of car buyers do not check the impact on their insurance bill before choosing a new car.

Insurance companies say that the choice of vehicle can have a major impact on the cost of an individual's insurance bill and therefore their total cost of driving. Rates are impacted by the year, model, repair cost and theft rate of a specific vehicle.

Fifty-six percent of respondents to the online poll said that they did not know the insurance cost of the car they were thinking of purchasing. However, 39 percent of participants said that insurance cost was “very” important in their buying decision while a further 34 percent rated it as “somewhat” important.

When asked about their insurance purchasing habits, 59 percent of participants said that they requested multiple quotes when buying insurance. Insurance experts advise requesting multiple quotes as rates for the same vehicle and driver can vary between different companies by hundreds of dollars.

Despite the increased availability of insurance quotes over the Internet, only 13 percent reported that they had bought insurance from the web. The results were drawn from a sample of 3671 respondents to the survey which was conducted among the users of the site's price quote service. All the buyers who participated stated that they were within 30 days of making a new vehicle purchase.

BuyingAdvice.com (http://www.buyingadvice.com/) supplies more than 50,000 competitive price quotes to new car buyers each month. The latest survey is one of a series that provide the most up-to-date statistics on car buying trends. The poll was conducted during August.

The web site also features tips and advice for car buyers, new car reviews and the latest news and information from the automotive world.
