Healthcare Comes to Light: Lightolier's MD Series Fluorescent Fixtures Meet the Critical Needs of Patients and Doctors Lightolier introduces MD*4 and MD*Coffer multi-function high performance fluorescent fixtures designed specifically to meet the needs of the healthcare industry. Both combine four lights in one: an ambient light suitable for visitors, a reading light for patients, an examination light, and a nighttime light that allows nurses to read patients' charts without waking them. Patients can control the ambient and reading lights with a bedside control, while hospital staff can access examination and nighttime lights via a wall switch. Wilmington, MA (PRWEB) September 20, 2007 -- Lightolier, the leader in interior lighting for over a century, has introduced MD*4 and MD*Coffer multi-function high performance fluorescent fixtures designed specifically to meet the needs of the healthcare industry. In both MD*4 and MD*Coffer, the ambient and reading lights consume only 69 watts per bed when using an electronic ballast.
The MD Series takes patient and visitor comfort into account while maximizing ease of use for hospital staff. The MD*4's semi-specular low-iridescence anodized aluminum reflectors create precise, glare-free performance, while the MD*Coffer offers a subtle appearance through the use of indirect ambient lighting shielded by a curved perforated mesh basket. Both are designed to be recessed into the ceiling or surface mounted, preventing the fixtures from collecting dust or being damaged by medical equipment attached to patients' beds. The MD*4 is available in an all-white finish for individual patient room applications, and can include a 50,000 hour LED night light as an option.
"Hospitals and other healthcare facilities have unique lighting requirements that are not met by the vast majority of products available to the market," said William Fabbri, Vice President and General Manager of Lightolier's Fluorescent Division. "Patients, staff and visitors all benefit from adjustable light levels and minimal glare. With the MD Series, we are providing the flexibility that healthcare facilities need to keep patients comfortable while enabling doctors and nurses to work effectively."
MD*4 and MD*Coffer features: • 6 7/8" deep. • Installs as a one-piece unit. • All lamps are enclosed (M*4) or shielded (M*Coffer). • All twin tube T5 lamps are accessible for relamping without tools. • Optional low voltage electronic sequential switch mounted in fixture for ambient and reading light controlled with pillow speaker. • Meets NYC Code requirements. Chicago Plenum requirements available.
