Kelly Lynn Jones -- "Far from Main Street" Exhibition at Rare Device San Francisco

San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present "Far from Main Street" by Los Angeles artist, Kelly Lynn Jones (kellylynnjones.com). Jones' small paintings will occupy the gallery portion of the store and can be viewed from October 25 - December 2, 2007. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, October 25 from 6 - 10 pm.

(PRWEB) October 5, 2007 -- San Francisco design store and gallery, Rare Device, is proud to present "Far from Main Street" by Los Angeles artist, Kelly Lynn Jones (kellylynnjones.com). Jones' small paintings will occupy the gallery portion of the store and can be viewed from October 25 - December 2, 2007. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, October 25 from 6 - 10 pm.

Jones is a 2002 graduate of the California College of the Arts. "My art begins by giving the past a new story," she says. As a point of departure, Jones uses old photographs to explore new moments and begin new conversations. She examines the emotional attachment to specific spaces and to objects. "Memories are triggered by something around us whether it is an old chair, cactus, a particular street, TV show, a song or a smell. The instant in which we recall yesterday or twenty years ago is what I try to obtain. These collected memories and experiences allow reflection on the past and elicit growth," she notes. In "Far from Main Street", Jones attempts to recreate the idea of home, the place where we feel safe and create our personal sanctuary. "Our emotional weight helps shape the space we occupy and gives it a new life."

Rare Device is a store and gallery that features functional experiments and original ideas in art, design, craft and fabrication. Store owners Rena Tom and Lisa Congdon constantly seek out objects that are beautiful, evocative, well constructed and thoughtful. We are pleased to bring to our San Francisco store an ever-growing roster of local, national and international artists and designers for a truly "rare" experience. Jones' opening also marks the grand opening of Rare Device in San Francisco.

Rare Device (raredevice.net) is located at 1845 Market Street between Valencia and Guerrero Streets. Store hours are Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, noon to 7pm, Thursday noon to 9 pm and Sunday noon to 6 pm.
