Salamander Technologies' medTRAX Solution Tracks Patients at Army Ten-Miler

Salamander Technologies, Inc., recently recognized on the Inc. 500, announced the successful deployment of its medTRAX solution to keep track of patients at the Army Ten-Miler.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 10, 2007 -- Salamander Technologies, Inc., recently recognized on the Inc. 500, announced the successful deployment of its medTRAX solution to keep track of patients at the Army Ten-Miler. Held in Washington, DC, the Army Ten-Miler attracted 30,000 participants and spectators.

Salamander Technologies' medTRAX solution tracked patients at the event using barcoded runners' bibs, triage tags, and information read from the patients' driver's license. Handheld scanners captured this data and synced back to command software on laptops at the information tent, command center, and medical sites. This data was then available so that patient's families could be given information on where the injured runners were being treated. Members of the Salamander Emergency Response Group (SERG) flew into Washington, DC to help support Army Medical Staff and local EMS/Fire agencies running the medTRAX solution purchased by Prince George's County and the National Capitol Region.

"We were excited to send a team to help out our customers working at the Army Ten-Miler," said Russ Miller, President of Salamander Technologies. "This is a great use of our system and our SERG Team."

"You had the potential for a lot of injuries, anything from sprained ankles to heat exhaustion because it was a hot, humid day," said Mike Whelan, Vice President of Salamander Technologies. "Our system is designed to keep track of multiple patients and to track them from the first aid station to the hospital if necessary with this information shared via the web. This allows families to easily be reunited with a loved one if an injury occurs during the race."

This year marked the 23rd running of the Army Ten-Miler race, which is America's largest ten-mile race. The race begins and ends at the Pentagon; proceeds will go to Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation to enhance the lives of soldiers and their families.
