North Carolina Opinion Poll on Climate Change

On October 12-15, NCclimate.org conducted an independent survey of North Carolinians' views on global climate change and the state government response. The telephone poll included a random sample of 803 households and carried a margin error of +/- 4 percent. Almost 3 in 4 respondents say they are concerned about climate change and only 1 in 10 feel the state government is doing enough to address the issue.

The telephone poll included a random sample of 803 households and carried a margin error of /- 4 percent. Almost 3 in 4 respondents say they are concerned about climate change and only 1 in 10, of those concerned, feel the state government is doing enough to address the issue.

Survey questions:

Are you concerned about global climate change and any of its environmental impacts on North Carolina?

a)    Somewhat Concerned    28 percent

b)    Strongly Concerned    44 percent

c)    Not Concerned    23 percent

d)    Unsure        5 percent

Do you believe our state government in Raleigh is doing enough to address the issue?

a)    No        61 percent

b)    Yes        11 percent

c)    Unsure        28 percent

No significant difference was found among groups of self-described Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated.
