Southeastern Council of Foundations Launches Southern Philanthropy News Service

The Southeastern Council of Foundations (SECF) has launched the Southern Philanthropy News Service - a one-year pilot program to begin educating the media and public about the work and value of grantmaking foundations.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) October 21, 2007 -- The Southeastern Council of Foundations (SECF) has launched the Southern Philanthropy News Service - a one-year pilot program to begin educating the media and public about the work and value of grantmaking foundations.

Using a grant from the Forum of Regional Association of Grantmakers, the service will generate news stories, human interest features and op-ed pieces and distribute them to newspapers throughout the region.

The program's coordinator will be Emily Evans. Most recently employed in the Office of Communications of Karen Handel, Georgia Secretary of State, Ms. Evans received bachelor degrees in journalism and English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a master's degree in public administration from Georgia State University.

The Southeastern Council of Foundations is a membership association of approximately 375 grantmaking foundations in 11 Southeastern states with approximately $30 billion in philanthropic assets.
