Who Do You Trust? New Young Readers' Book Reveals All

Kendra Kandlestar is an adventurer and just after the first book in the series has won the votes of moms and kids--a sequel to awarding winning children's book will be released this November.

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) October 26, 2007 -- In "Kendra Kandlestar and the Box of Whispers," readers discovered the magic of facing their deepest secrets. Now, in the new enchanting sequel, Kendra Kandlestar and the Door to Unger (ISBN 978-1-933285-83-2, Brown Books), everyone's favorite Een girl has returned--older, wiser, and full of spunk--to share the incredible power of resisting negativity and becoming gatekeepers of our own truths.

In this adventure for readers aged 8-12, Kendra Kandlestar finds herself visited in the middle of the night by a giant, monstrous Unger who delivers a cryptic message: if she can find the fabled Door to Unger, she will be able to unlock the truth about her long-lost family. Soon Kendra finds herself on a perilous journey in which she must tangle with Dwarves, monsters, and one strange, magic-peddling Faun. Amidst a web of unlikely friendships and alliances, Kendra must decide whom she can trust--and whom she can't--as she seeks to discover a door that just may unlock the mysteries of her past.

"As with the first book in the series, The Door to Unger draws on a tradition of mythology, folklore and fairytale," explains author and illustrator Lee Edward Födi. "It will certainly entertain the younger kids, even pre-readers, because of the many illustrations and the story-telling style of the narrative, but I hope the older readers will discover deeper satisfaction in Kendra Kandlestar's journey through an enchanted portal and into a maze of monsters, where her mettle and deepest, innermost beliefs are put to the test."

Lee Edward Födi lives in Vancouver, Canada. Known to kids as the "Wizard of Words," he is the author and illustrator of three books for children and has illustrated numerous picture books for other authors, including the Canadian national bestseller,"The Chocolatier's Apprentice." Födi is also the co-founder and head mentor for Dream Workshop, a Vancouver-based creative writing program for children, which helps young authors, aged 8-13, publish their own books.

The Kendra Kandlestar books are distributed through Ingram and are available at all major book retailers throughout the United States and Canada. Födi will be supporting the release of the latest installment in the series, Kendra Kandlestar and the Door to Unger, with events at schools, conferences, and bookstores in select cities in the US and Canada.
