Lyn Ross Launches The Specialized Sensitive Skin Laser Program. Lyn Ross of Institut' DERMed in Atlanta launches a new Specialized Sensitive Skin Laser Program to minimize discomfort and maximize the benefits when treating hyper-sensitive skin. Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 4, 2007 -- Lyn Ross of Institut' DERMed in Atlanta launches a new Specialized Sensitive Skin Laser Program to minimize discomfort and maximize the benefits when treating hyper-sensitive skin.
The Specialized Sensitive Skin Laser Program at Institut' DERMed in Atlanta combines superior technology with superior technique and superior product. Besides the use of a numbing cream, discussed on a client by client basis in the pre-treatment consultation, the technician also prepares the skin with the Institut' DERMed Sensitive Skin Cleanser, a foaming facial wash containing licorice root extract and laurel berries known for soothing and calming hyper-sensitive skin and the Institut' DERMed Sensitive Skin Toner, a specially formulated anti-inflammatory containing green tea extract and willow herb. Take home products include the Hydro-cort healing balm, a first aid cream formulated with hydrocortisone and aloe vera that reduces redness irritation and accelerates healing, and the Institut' DERMed Post Laser Healing Cream, a lubricating moisture shield formulated with Shea Butter and Silicone that creates a lipid barrier protector against damaging environmental elements between treatments.
A growing number of Americans are turning to laser hair removal and IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) photo facial treatments for smooth skin. While these treatments are completely individual, both machines work in a similar fashion targeting patients' melanin, the dark pigment that gives hair and skin its color. The heat from the laser's energy is absorbed by the melanin and kills the roots of nearby hair follicles or in the case of IPL the red from broken capillaries and the brown from hyper-pigmentation help it find its target. The popularity of both treatments has grown over the past few years. Laser Hair Removal is not just for women anymore, more and more men are turning to the treatment for relief from in-grown facial hairs as well as unruly back hair and IPL is hailed by many Rosacea patients as a Godsend.
An advocate of both procedures Ross found herself seeking new avenues to make each more widely available and comfortable for the growing number of her consumers who fall into the hyper-sensitive skin range. "While most people describe the sensation of Laser Hair Removal and IPL as similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin, many of my clients who could seriously benefit from these treatments have hyper-sensitive skin and therefore suffer discomfort both during and after treatment despite following all the best manufacturers and medical guidelines," said Ross. Frequently referred to locally as the Donny Deutsch of skin care, Ross has built a hugely successful skin-care business over the past 17 years with her passion for finding a 'better way'. "It was these clients that sent me back to the drawing board in an effort to assist what I knew was a particularly beneficial treatment become more comfortable for them," she said.
Sales rep Jodi Farber of Atlanta is certainly happy, "I am absolutely thrilled at the quick results I've gotten from the combination of the Institut' DERMed products and my IPL treatments. Even friends have noticed a difference in the 2 months I've been using the products and the IPL together! I mean you just don't know; you should have seen how much pigment I had on my face before, this treatment is amazing and really the discomfort was minimal."
Outside of guidelines and protocols, all consumers should make sure they are being treated by a well-trained and experienced technician. This is serious equipment with serious effects if used incorrectly. Said Ross, "You can set the parameters on a machine but you can't compensate for the basic instinct of a well trained eye. At Institut' DERMed we stand by our number of years in the business, our advanced training and our equipment which is the latest technology available currently. We turn away clients who are simply not good candidates for either of these treatments due to certain medical conditions or hair color/skin type and we always advise our clients on the strict necessity for other safety precautions as well, for example, our technicians won't treat anyone who has had sun exposure prior to getting a laser treatment because of the risk of burns or changes in pigmentation."
Other tips she offered for anyone considering laser treatments:
•Not all practitioners that offer laser treatments are equal on the level of experience and skill with laser use. It's important to find a technician who is adequately trained. •The technician should take your medical history, a routine assessment of your skin and a photograph of the area to be treated. He or she should explain the risks and benefits thoroughly. •In your initial consultation, don't be afraid to ask about background and experience. Discuss your expectations and don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have. •Laser does not work on light hair, very fine and vellus hair. •In general, expect to need between 6 and 8 sessions to see optimal results.
Understanding what's involved in a laser treatment and weighing the benefits and risks can help you decide if these procedures are your best option. Choosing a program that includes pre and post laser care will increase comfort and enhance treatment results.
