Diabetes Awareness Video Results of Contributions From Hundreds of People Touched By Diabetes

A diabetes awareness video was the result of the contributions of hundreds of members of TuDiabetes.com, an online social network for people touched by diabetes.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) November 12, 2007 -- A diabetes awareness video (http://tudiabetes.com/video/video/show?id=583967:Video:67944) was the result of the contributions of hundreds of members of TuDiabetes.com, an online social network for people touched by diabetes.

The video pulled from over 120 photos that were submitted between August and November, 2007 by members of TuDiabetes.com for the "Word In Your Hand (http://tudiabetes.com/forum/topic/show?id=583967%3ATopic%3A40804)" project. The original music was written by member Albert Chen (http://tudiabetes.com/profile/Soloban1) and the video was edited by member Luis Garcia (http://tudiabetes.com/profile/ie89master), who originally came up with the idea for the project.

TuDiabetes.com was launched by Manny Hernandez in March 2007. The social network has passed 1,300 members from all over the world, with the United States, the UK, Canada, Australia, South Africa, India, Belgium and Singapore among the countries represented. All countries were represented in the project.

Mollie Singer, a member of TuDiabetes and one of six young people in America to have been chosen as the 2007 Most Caring Americans commented: "I think this project is perfect for bringing more awareness to this disease," on her blog (http://curemoll.com/2007/11/04/word-in-your-hand/).

The only requirement to participate in the project was to join TuDiabetes.com, which anybody touched by diabetes can do for free. After creating and customizing their profile page, members participate in diabetes-related discussions in the Forum, share their thoughts and ideas in their blog and post videos and photos.

Members can connect through the "Tu Diabetes Chat Room" where they exchange tips for a healthier diabetic lifestyle. They can also join over one hundred groups that have been formed, such as "Parents of Kids with Type 1," "College Students with Diabetes," "Continuous Glucose Monitor Users," "Pumping Our Insulin" and "Symlin Users Forum".

Also created in early August 2007, is the Spanish-only sister site, EsTuDiabetes.com (http://estudiabetes.com), aimed at Spanish-speaking diabetics in the US, Latin America, Spain and throughout the rest of the world, which recently passed the 150 member mark.

"Word In Your Hand is a project that captures the essense of TuDiabetes.com," commented Hernandez. "It unites people touched by diabetes and helps raise awareness about this condition that now affects over 20 million people in the US and over 246 million around the world."
