Stockholm, Sweden (PRWEB) November 13, 2007 -- Financial Times publishes an article based on H&H Webranking European ranking 2007 in the section Companies and Markets. The results from the ranking are highlighted in the article which points out the improvements of Italian corporate websites. The top three companies of the H&H Webranking survey are Telecom Italia, Repsol YPF and UniCredit.

Italian companies have some of the best corporate websites in Europe, a remarkably turnaround from five years ago when they ranked at the bottom. Sweden, traditionally the leader since the original survey began there 11 years ago - has fallen outside the top ten for the first time.

"These results reflect the creation of a culture in Italy where there is a big commitment to openness" says Marcus Eriksson, Head of the survey at Hallvarsson & Halvarsson.

In contrast companies in France and Russia had poorly performing websites. Only one French company, the aerospace group EADS, made it into the top 40, while no Russian company made it into the top 100 in Europe.

A smaller amount of English content on the sites and a smaller proportion of the population online compared to Western Europe is two of the reasons for the poorly result in the survey for Russian companies. "However, they will have to embrace it, if they want to attract foreign capital" Mr Eriksson says. "It is their window to the world".

Corporate websites are becoming an increasingly important source of information for investors, financial analysts and business journalists. About 80 per cent of the respondents to a questionnaire, the first step in the H&H Webrnaking survey, says that they worked constantly connected to the Internet. 90 per cent considered the corporate websites the most important source of financial information for listed companies.
