Wrecking Corp Completes Demolition and Excavation Work on Manassas Mall Site Wrecking Corporation of America completes demolition of 150,000 square feet of Manassas Mall, as well as removal of 100 tons of contaminated soil from site. Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) November 14, 2007 -- Wrecking Corporation of America, which has provided demolition services to major industrial, commercial, and government clients in the Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland metropolitan areas for more than 30 years, has completed demolition and excavation work on the Manassas Mall site in Manassas, Virginia.
The project consisted of razing the former Sears department store, a one-story steel frame building, and a portion of the existing adjacent mall, about 150,000 square feet in all. Demolition of the mall required separating it from the section of the mall that remained. In addition, Wrecking Corp removed 100 tons of contaminated soil from the site.
"The soil contamination is from the leaking hydraulic lifts in the Sears Auto Center," said Terry Anderson, Wrecking Corp's executive vice president. "This is fairly common in these types of jobs."
The general contractor for the project is the Ashburn, Virginia-based Dietz Construction Group, Inc.
